Meet Mrs. Ruthie Kent, who will be coaching both our Novice/Beginner Speech Students & Novice/Beginner Team Policy Debate Students.
Ruthie is a speech & debate alumna who competed in Stoa for three of her high school years in Stoa speech events and for two years in Stoa Debate. During her high school years, as a student leader, she coached both JV & SV novice speech for three years and Stoa debate for two years.
She qualified for Stoa’s national tournament, NITOC, in both Team Policy Debate, Lincoln Douglas Debate & Parliamentary Debate & also received numerous Team Policy & Lincoln Douglas Speaker awards. Ruthie especially enjoyed & excelled in the Extemporaneous Speech event which focuses on current events.
Ruthie is passionate about teaching students the impact of strong communication, skills, intelligent arguments, & informed research & is dedicated to helping students grow in confidence in their presentation & critical thinking skills.
Ruthie graduated from homeschooling with Aaron Academy in 2022. She attended Lee University & now works as an entrepreneur & a part time teacher. She loves being outside, writing, & spending quality time with her husband & family.
Ruthie is our '25-'26 Ambassador Club Novice/Beginner Speech Coach, Extemporaneous Speech Event Coach, and our Novice/Beginning Student's Team Policy Debate Coach.
Stoa's '25-'26 Team Policy Resolution: Resolved: The United States Federal Government should substantially reform its policy toward one or more countries in Central/South America.
